Det tryksatte havvand tvinges derefter gennem semipermeable RO-membraner. Disse membranlag har porer, der er sm\u00e5 nok (ca. 0,0001 mikrometer) til at tillade vandmolekyler at passere igennem, mens de forhindrer str\u00f8mmen af saltioner og forskellige andre opl\u00f8ste faste stoffer. Tilstoppede forfiltre kan \u00f8ge trykfaldet i systemet, neds\u00e6tte saltvandets gennemstr\u00f8mningshastighed og l\u00e6gge ekstra pres p\u00e5 RO-membranerne eller andre elementer i termiske rensningssystemer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rensning og udskiftning af membranlag (til RO-systemer):<\/strong>\u00a0RO-membranlag kan med tiden blive tilsmudset som f\u00f8lge af ophobning af r\u00e5materialer, bakterier og kalkaflejringer. Rutinem\u00e6ssig kemisk rensning ved hj\u00e6lp af specialiserede reng\u00f8ringsmidler er n\u00f8dvendig for at fjerne disse forurenende stoffer. Hyppigheden af rensning afh\u00e6nger af elementer som saltvandets topkvalitet og driftsforhold. Derudover har RO-membranlag en minimal levetid og skal generelt skiftes hvert 3.-5. \u00e5r for at bevare afsaltningsydelsen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unders\u00f8gelse af pumper og ventiler:<\/strong>\u00a0H\u00f8jbelastningspumper, f\u00f8depumper og afsp\u00e6rringer i afsaltningssystemet b\u00f8r evalueres hyppigt for tegn p\u00e5 slid, l\u00e6kager eller funktionsfejl. Sm\u00f8ring af bev\u00e6gelige komponenter, som f.eks. pumpelejer, skal udf\u00f8res i henhold til leverand\u00f8rens anvisninger. Ut\u00e6tte afsp\u00e6rringer kan resultere i tab af tryk og minimeret effektivitet i afsaltningsanl\u00e6gget.
